Friday night..

I painted this little painting tonight on a small canvas that was layered with thick acrylic paint from a workshop I did this summer. I was going to throw out the canvas but after sanding it down a bit I decided to just have fun and release any expectations ...there is still a lot of textures and bumps and it was tough working on it but I did it all in one night. I think my cat Athena inspired this!

  • So lucky you have those Friday get togethers. I love everything in this painting! Tks. for sharing this with all us.

  • I love it too, it's great you paint on Friday's with your friend! Love Athena!
    • Yes we've been doing it for two years! She usually cooks us a salmon dinner, cause her family hates it and it's the only time she gets s to have it! I don't eat meat or fish but I make the exception for her. Her oldest daughter died two years ago and painting is part of her healing process... Along with consuming much chocolate, which I help her out with too!
  • Hi Denise.....I really like this.  Some of my favourite paintings are on old canvases that have many many layers of paintings on them.  On this I especially love the pattern on the dress....and the expression on that cat's face.  She knows she's got it good.

    • Thanks Elaine! Yes, sometimes all those layers have story to tell!

This area is a place to check in and let other's know where we are at. A place to be heard.

Writing is a great way to share information and get things off your chest. If you have something you'd like to share regarding your artistic journey, this is a good place to do it. Maybe discuss a current project you are working on, an experience you had, or simply what's been going on in that head of yours. Maybe you are into poetry and feel like sharing that. Whatever it may be, I encourage you to blog a little...ramble and rant if you want. Check in daily if you'd like. Perhaps post a video of yourself. Whatever feels right for you.

This should go without saying, but...before you comment on someone else's blog, check yourself and make sure you are being kind. Let's all help to make this a safe and supportive atmosphere. Words matter.
